Community Bonds
Community bonds, also known as social impact bonds or community...
The Affordable Housing Needs in South Etobicoke research project is a partnership between LAMP Community Health Centre and Humber College funded through NSERC.
We aim to uncover the cost-of-living issues through community based participatory research (CBPR) in South Etobicoke to develop a baseline of housing affordability; gather input from community members to assess the impacts of displacement and further marginalization and to identify proactive measures to inform decision-making and social policy change. We aim to contribute to the community’s advocacy against homelessness to help create inclusive and accessible communities.
Following a process of critical pedagogy and grassroots community involvement, lead researcher Salomeh Ahmadi uses a research approach that emphasizes the importance of creating meaningful partnerships and a collaborative approach between researchers and the people for whom the research is ultimately meant to be of use or are most impacted. It also recognizes the strengths each person can bring.
